Executive Panel

The Partners are supported by Pemberton’s executive panel, comprised of independent businessmen and executives with successful track records who are available at short notice to assist with due diligence and appraisal of potential investee companies. From time to time they also undertake interim assignments within investee companies either to work on specific projects or in some cases to act as an interim manager or as non-executive directors of investee companies.

  • Robert Stanbury
    Robert Stanbury

    Robert has over 40 years’ experience in operational, senior management and interim roles in the automotive, industrial and engineering sectors. Robert spent over ten years in the marketing and sales team in the aerospace division of Rolls Royce, subsequently moving into senior management positions within large multinationals in a number of businesses in the industrial and engineering sectors in Europe and the United States including Chemineer-Kenics, Durco Europe and Flowserve Corporation, where he was vice-president of first the R&D and later the engineering divisions. More recently Robert has acted as an interim in a variety of businesses in the mechanical engineering sector across the world. Robert has an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

    • Tim Langhorn
      Tim Langhorn

      Tim Langhorn read economics at Clare College Cambridge. After a time dealing with tariffs, statistics and trade promotion in the mechanical engineering industry, he  spent 21 years as a senior manager with global electrical engineer ABB, leading acquisitions, disposals and joint venture and business creation, adding £350m revenue and 10,000 employees and  so establishing the greater part of ABB’s UK presence. Areas addressed ranged across rail transportation (including the privatization of British Rail Engineering Ltd) electrical engineering and  equipment and electricity generation – dealing with companies including ICI, GEC and the oil majors. Most recently, having assisted it to an MBO, he was invited to invest in,  to be on the board of and chair the investment vehicle of the company that became Quartzelec Ltd. He also sits as a director of Quartzelec’s pension trustee.

      • Milburn Patterson
        Milburn Patterson

        Milburn Patterson joined the aluminium industry in 1986 and has extensive technical and commercial experience in the industry. He was UK sales manager for Hydro Aluminium from 1995 to 2000, after which he founded his own aluminium stockist business which he sold to the Domes Group, the owner of Aluminium Shapes and Windmill Extrusions, in 2010.

        He took on the role of managing director of Aluminium Shapes following the sale of  Eastern to Domes and since then has led the very successful turnaround of Aluminium Shapes through the economic downturn. Milburn is a forward thinking, highly entrepreneurial leader and has proven, hands on expertise in manufacturing turnarounds.

        • Vivian Bairstow
          Vivian Bairstow

          Vivian is a Chartered Accountant and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner. He is also a partner in Begbies Traynor, a specialist insolvency and restructuring firm, and was for several years, a partner in a Big 4 firm of accountants carrying out similar work. Vivian deals with both companies and individuals in financial difficulty, regularly acting as administrator, administrative receiver, liquidator, supervisor and trustee in bankruptcy. His specialist experience goes back to the Rolls-Royce receivership, and since then, he has acted in respect of a wide variety of businesses, many with ongoing trade, besides others with overseas dimensions. He has also been a party in several legal decisions affecting insolvency, one of which is regarded as a landmark decision affecting property and insolvency. In addition to his insolvency career, he also is Director of Marketing of Redress Solutions, litigation funders, which he helped establish a few years ago.
